If you have a pristine white carpet at home then there’s probably one thing you dread – carpet stains. Unfortunately, carpet stains are a fact of life and they can happen at any time without notice. But don’t despair, because in this blog post, we’ll go through some of the most common carpet stains and how to remove them.
Coffee stains
Many of us like a cup of coffee in the morning, but if we’re not careful then that cup of coffee could end up knocked over and spilt all over the floor. If this happens and you don’t clean the carpet quickly, then it could leave an unsightly brown stain.
How to remove coffee stains: To remove coffee from a carpet, first, blot up the excess coffee using a dry cloth or kitchen paper. Then, mix together two cups of warm water, one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of washing up liquid to make a cleaning solution. Apply a little of the mixture to the stain and blot with a dry cloth. Keep doing this until the stain disappears. Viola! Now reward yourself by making another cup of coffee.
Blood
Nosebleeds, pricked fingers, and bitten lips can all cause drops of blood to land on your pristine carpet. We hope that blood isn’t a problem that you have to deal with often, but when it does happen here’s how to get rid of it.
How to remove blood stains: First, mix two cups of cold water with one teaspoon of washing up liquid. Then, apply a small amount to the stain and blot it with a clean cloth. The washing up liquid will help to dislodge the stain, after which you can remove it with a sponge soaked with cold water.
Ink
Ink stains are something that all homeowners dread because it’s so hard to get out of the carpet. Unfortunately, leaking pens and printer cartridges can both cause this problem. But fear not, because we’ll tell you how to get rid of ink stains.
How to remove ink stains: The trick to getting rid of ink stains is to try things like rubbing alcohol, hairspray and nail polish remover. First, apply some rubbing alcohol to a cloth and then gently blot the stain. If you blot for long enough, then you should eventually see the stain disappear, but if it doesn’t work then try the hairspray and nail polish remover instead. Finally, remember to clean your carpet with warm water and vinegar afterwards to prevent damage from the alcohol.
Red wine
A spilt glass of wine has probably happened to all of us at some point in our lives. However, it doesn’t have to leave a lasting stain on the carpet.
How to remove red wine stains: If the wine is still wet, then first use kitchen paper to blot up as much of the wine as you can. Then, pour salt over the stain and leave it there overnight to draw in the moisture. In the morning, you can vacuum it up and hopefully, the stain will be gone. If the stain has already dried, then try a cleaning solution made of 2 cups of warm water, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of washing up liquid.
